Kisumu Senator Anyang' Nyong’o has accused the Jubilee government of frustrating and intimidating Governor Hassan Joho despite not wronging anyone.
The Senator said Joho has done nothing to deserve being humiliated and frustrated by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.
Speaking on NTV’s AM Live Show on Monday, the Kisumu Senator accused the Jubilee government of allegedly using State agencies to harass Joho.
“Jubilee government has no reason to go on fighting, intimidating, embarrassing and humiliating Governor Joho,” said Nyong’o.
He claimed that the Jubilee government feels threatened by Joho’s popularity at the Coast, adding that it was wrong to intimidate and threaten a governor who was elected by the people.
Nyong’o accused Jubilee of using unconstitutional tactics to fight its opponents, and warned that the opposition will not sit back and watch as the government continues to intimidate Joho and other opposition governors.
On Sunday, Siaya senator James Orengo threatened to sue President Uhuru Kenyatta for threatening and intimidating the governor.
Governor Joho has been on the spot in the recent days with a series of investigations being conducted on him.
He is being probed by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) on allegations of tax evasion and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on allegations of forging his academic certificates.
The county boss has been embroiled in public spats with President Uhuru Kenyatta and other Jubilee leaders in the recent days.
Last week armed police officers invaded Joho’s rally in Kinango, Kwale County and dispersed his supporters on claims he had no security permit to hold the rally.
Political analysts, however ,say that Jubilee government is making Joho popular by engaging him in public spats.
