Celebrity love cheats Tiger Woods, Ashley Cole and Peter Crouch have all had their illicit affairs exposed this year, with details of their infidelities hitting the headlines. What’s more, a new survey has revealed that one in ten male cheats are exposed by their partners, compared to just one in twenty women.
Are men simply amateurs when it comes to cheating?
A poll conducted by IllicitEncounters.com has shown that women are better at covering their tracks when they cheat on their partners – especially when it comes to emails, texts and Facebook.
Sara Hartley of IllicitEncounters.com said, ‘Careless men often leave their mobile phones lying around, giving their partners a chance to check up on them.
‘Women are far more careful to log out of private email accounts and Facebook and keep separate email addresses and SIM cards specifically for their lover’s use.’
Women are also more likely to use their friends to cover for them. In fact, 40% of unfaithful women use an ‘alibi’ friend to help keep their affairs hidden, compared to just 6% of women.
Dr David Holmes, a psychologist from Manchester Metropolitan University, claims that women behave very differently from men when they cheat: ‘The biggest difference is that women are much better at keeping their affairs secret.’
‘They are better liars because they’re more psychologically sophisticated.
‘You can argue about whether it’s nature or nurture, but women are programmed to be much more relationship and people orientated than men […] Emotionally, they make plans and have strategies, while men are more impulsive.’
What do you think? Are women more ‘psychologically sophisticated’ then men when it comes to hiding their affairs?
