Jubilee is fighting me politically, says governor Joho

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has urged the Jubilee government to spearhead the fight against drugs in the country instead of politicising the matter.

Speaking to journalists in Mombasa on Tuesday, Joho distanced himself from claims of engaging in drug trafficking.

Joho said local leaders in Mombasa have done their best in the fight against drugs in the county.

“If the Jubilee government is serious about the fight against drugs, it has to stop politicising the war and include everyone,” said Joho.

“This is a style Jubilee is using to hunt for votes and they can’t make it this way. The government needs to know that citizens own voting cards and they cant get votes by punishing an individual,” added Joho.

The governor accused the government of targeting him due to his stand on issues affecting Mombasa residents.

“They have tried to accuse me of corruption, they tried to say I am not educated to university level. They have vowed to kick me out of the ballot box but I will stand and fight for my rights,” said Joho.

He further urged the Jubilee administration to stop tarnishing the county's image as the move will affect the country's economy.
