Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has insisted captain John Terry remains a vital part of the club.
Terry was this week the subject of interest from Bournemouth , with a potential loan move to the Vitality Stadium in the offing.
But Cherries boss Eddie Howe revealed on Friday that the rumours were false , saying at a press conference: "There have been no negotiations with Chelsea at all. No discussions, no meeting. Nothing."
And Conte has now insisted he is keen to keep the long-serving centre-back.
"He [Terry] is an important player for the team," the Italian manager said.
"He is a great player and man. It is fantastic to have a person like him to help me in my first season. He is in my squad, he deserves to play.
"John is an important player - whether he plays or doesn't play, he is important in the changing room."
