The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination kicked off well in Lugari Sub County on Tuesday, according to local education office.
Reporting to West Media after the first day of the examination, Sub County Education Officer, Mr. Francis Shikanda said the exercise started on time as scheduled by the Kenya National Examinations Council.
“The well-guarded container was opened at exactly 4.30 am and by 6.45am all centre managers, who are respective head teachers, had picked day one exam papers,” said Shikanda, noting the container was opened and him acting Deputy County Commissioner, Mr. Reuben Kimosop.
Shikanda confirmed candidates started both morning and afternoon papers on time in all the centres.
He, however, noted about two candidates were absent and failed to sit for the first papers, Mathematics and English.
“We are yet to establish reasons behind the two candidates’ failure to appear for the examination,” said Shikanda.
