Bomet governor Isaac Ruto escaped death by a whisker when the car he was travelling in was involved in an accident between Mai Mahiu and Suswa where one man lost his life.
It is reported that the dceased alighted from a matatu which was parked half on the road and hurriedly tried to cross the road in front of the matatu when governor's vehicle hit him.
The matatu and the governor's car were headed to Mai Mahiu. The governor's driver was trying to overtake the parked matatu when the sad incident happened.
The matatu escaped from the scene of the accident and could not be traced. Reports reaching us say the governor reported the matter at Mai Mahiu police station.
Police have henceforth arrived at the scene of the accident.
The Chama cha Mashinani chief said frankly:
"I am so sorry for the loss of life and may God comfort the family of the man who died."
