Elgeyo Marakwet residents take to streets to support their leaders who have been summoned to CID Headquarters (photos)

Marakwet residents carried placards chanting and  singing songs agitating the manner in which the government is mistreating their governor.

Their governor Alex Tolgos has arrived at the CID headquarters in Nairobi to record statements on the protest they led at Moi University.

Earlier today leaders from the North Rift region surrendered at the Kiambu CID headquarters after warrants of arrest were issued against them.

This comes days after they led protests against appointment of Professor Laban Ayiro as acting vice chancellor who is not from the Kalenjin community. Their utterances were questionable as they sparked animosity yet the country is thirsty for peace and harmony even also the country gearing towards 2017 general elections.

The MPs who are also expected to record statements include; Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills), Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), James Bett (Kesses) and Tiren Silas (Moiben).

Interior Cabinet Secretary(CS) Joseph Nkaissery had ordered their arrest saying they risked arrest if they failed to record the statements. He said the six incited the public to protest against the university’s management.
