Karanja Kibicho the Interior Principal Secretary said that the government already has some intelligence information about some aspirants planning to cause chaos and disrupt their opponents ’ rallies .
The Interior CS noted that the government has instructed County Commissioners , County Commanders and other police bosses to deal with acts of violence and disturbance of peace in their specific regions .
He noted that there has been an upward trend of criminal gangs regrouping ahead of the polls. He added that the gangs are funded by politicians and businessmen in order to intimidate other aspirants with an aim of scaring them out of the race for various elective positions .
“ Every Kenyans in this country has a right to operate , express their opinion and associate without hindrance ,” said the PS.
“ All politicians will be given room to campaign freely without interfering with their opponents ’ rallies or disturbing peace .”

He said that the Ministry of Interior will not sit back and watch criminals drive the country to the violent path that was witnessed after the 2007 elections where over 1 , 300 people were killed and over 600 , 000 others displaced.
