Gmail hit by major technical problem leaving millions without email across the world

Users are being redirected to a page with 'Service not available, contact your administrator'

Google has been hit by a major technical glitch which has left millions without access to email across the world.

The tech giant posted a message saying it was investigating the problem at around 4.16pm.

The company Google wrote on its
Apps Status dashboard : "We're investigating reports of an issue with Gmail.

"We will provide more information shortly."

Hey guys, thanks for staying with us. Gmail has been restored for some users, we continue working on a fix.

"Based on reports, it affects only Google for Work Gmail users.
"The users are redirected to a page with 'Service not available, contact your administrator'."

An update a few hours, Google For Work tweeted: "Hey guys, thanks for staying with us.

"Gmail has been restored for some users, we continue working on a fix."
