Guillaume Canet, 43, was smiling broadly on C à vous [It’s your turn to be served], a hugely popular programme in which celebrities sit down for dinner together.
He was asked to name a vegetable that Cotillard hates but wrongly suggested parsley.
Cotillard, 40, had in fact appeared on the show last week, and was filmed saying that she ‘detests peppers’.
When confronted with the truth, Canet laughed and admitted he did not "know her very well".
While Canet was clearly being light hearted, his words come at a time
when accusations that Cotillard is cheating on him are circulating
everywhere.
It is said that she grew close to Brad Pitt while performing passionate love scenes in their new film, Allied.
This in turn led to Pitt’s wife, Angelina Jolie, becoming massively jealous, and calling for a divorce.
Cotillard is said to ‘absolutely devastated’ by claims that she is the scarlet woman in the break up.
"Marion and Guillaume are blissfully happy, and these kind of claims are not what Marion wants to be hearing," said a source close to Marion’s family in her home city of Paris.
